Nothing evokes a sense of calm quite like natural, earth-inspired tones and natural materials. In this beachside luxury Mediterranean villa, you’ll find a light and breezy bedroom that is timeless but still makes a lasting impression, with handcrafted, quilted soft-furnishings and beautifully textured wooden bedside tables. For this project, Designed by Woulfe won the ‘Residential Interior Private Residence Spain’ award at the European Property Awards 2020.
The concept for this bedroom was to create a bright, cool and ultimately relaxing sanctuary which with the incorporation of nature-inspired shapes, colours and materials felt instantly grounding. The use of wood and natural textiles helped to maintain the rural character of the property whilst still feeling unassuming and elegant.
The satin black iron bedstead in this light-flooded bedroom is from The Original Bed Co. The traditional bed provides a stark contrast to the otherwise bright interiors. The Cornish Bed Company, specialists in hand-cast traditional iron, brass and nickel beds, also have several similar styles which will achieve this look.
Using materials reflective of the local environment was key within the interior design scheme of this luxury Balearic holiday villa and nothing beats a classic wooden bedside table. The Aubrey design from Feather & Black is made from weathered oak and is a traditional 2-drawer design, while the Twist Teak Bedside Table from Tikamoon and this Nordic-inspired design from Fy! are more contemporary options.
Limited Edition Rugs is a supplier of bespoke indoor and outdoor rugs designed and hand-tufted in Belgium. They work with non-artificial materials such as wool, linen and silk. The design we selected for this bedroom featured a striped pattern in neutral browns with navy to tie in with the bedding. A similar design can be found here.

The modern door handles from Buster and Punch were made from solid black anodised metal to match the bedstead.
To bring a touch of personality and soften the hard look of the bedstead, we opted for a navy and off-white patterned throw from The Conran Store. This Sally Quilt from Lesser Spotted is just as beautiful with a soft cotton voile exterior finished with a striking navy and white pattern, navy border and delicate stitching to keep the cotton wadding in place.
We completed the look with scatter cushions which were of the same colour palette but with contrasting patterns and of a different material. The linen and pom-pom embellished cushions were from The Conran Store, however, similar style cushions are available more locally in Mallorca at Rialto Living, a lifestyle concept store in one of Palma’s previous cultural centres.
