The outdoor space had to be as chic as the interiors. We enlisted the help of the award winning landscape architecture & garden design team, Bartholomew Landscaping, to create an urban jungle feel with foliage that cascades from the wood panelling which provides privacy. The compact space feels lush, with the cosy seating area framed by cool concrete planters.
The interior design scheme for this home is relatively transitional. We wanted it to feel luxurious and sophisticated while remaining warm and inviting, fit for all members of the family.
The kitchen opens right up onto the garden, so both spaces had to work well together. A skylight invites more light into the space and illuminates the warm tones of the wooden wall which is adorned with coloured vases and cookbooks. Black iron seating along the breakfast bar also ties in nicely with the outdoor seating.
A vibrant abstract painting in shades of pink, blue, white, red and yellow injects colour into the open-plan kitchen area and provides a beautiful backdrop when dining. An alcove also provides extra seating, which is always welcome in a family home.
A pair of gorgeous curved statement chairs add a touch of elegance. Also in the lounge, wooden panels serve as a room divider and create a sense of balance and order.
In the guest bathroom, green and grey geometric tiles make a big impression. Unique, gold fixtures, a freestanding basin and curved statement mirror give the space a fun, playful feel.
Flooring was kept neutral throughout the home with hardwood floors in the living areas and bedrooms and stone tiles in the open-plan kitchen. The simple flooring was balanced with rugs which added texture, cosiness and colour.
The clean, white hallway was furnished simply with a patterned blue runner, in order to maintain a sense of spaciousness. In the upstairs bathroom, we were keen to keep it neutral and modern, so we chose white and light grey tiles with simple lines.
We crafted the uncluttered yet wholesome interiors of this inviting London home by incorporating honest, natural materials, geometric forms, subtly contrasting materials and minimal but impactful adornment.
